Bob has continued to contribute through the present. Bob was Director/Team Leader of the Daily Press Briefing Room at Democratic National Conventions 2008 in Denver, 2012 in Charlotte, 2016 in Philadelphia, (2020 was virtual convention), and in 2024 in Chicago he and the NPC interns/young journalists he brought as well as wife Pat were both part of the media logistics team and credentialed media.

Weiner Public News recruits young journalists from colleges all over the country as bylined co-authors and writers. We have written more than 1000 op-eds that have appeared in major media outlets. Funding is derived from payments by the papers, a nonprofit foundation (Solutions for Change) supporting the young journalists’ mission, and contributions to the foundation from generous people and including Bob’s own. It is a unique and successful Washington, DC program for young journalists creating bylined, published articles. Bob won the National Press Club President’s Award in 2016 for this program recruiting and mentoring young journalists as bylined co-authors of published op-eds in major papers, and with the help of many wonderful people, it continues to thrive and expand.
